Planning of the Hope Gospel Mission annual Staff and Volunteer picnic starts.
We are starting to plan the annual picnic and hoping to reach as many of our volunteers as we can. Details will be listed here in the near future.
Questions to ask yourself!
- Giving is something that we don't talk much about as a culture. What were some of the best gifts you have ever received? Why were they special? Think about the people who gave them, the time of your life, and what the gift means to you now.
- What are some of the greatest gifts you have ever given to others? Why were they meaningful to you? Did the receiver feel the same way? How were you thanked?
- God is the greatest giver of all time. Because he created each of us in His image, we are born givers as well. Write about your giving … not just to Hope Gospel Mission, but to other non-profits, to friends and family, and to God. Remember that gifts of time, talents, and treasure come in all sizes. Why do you give to others? What might God be calling you to give now? How is God a model for your own giving?
- When making a donation to a nonprofit organization, are there certain things you look for that make it uniquely worth investing in?

Hope Gospel Mission Recognized for "Excellence in Service-Learning as a Community Partner" by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the Center for Service-Learning April, 2006.
Presentation and comments by Benita J. Wagner, Program Assistant, Center for Service-Learning, April 11, 2006
Would Gary Steward and the staff of the Hope Gospel Mission and Bargain Center please come up front?
Since 2002, the Center for Service-Learning has worked with Faith-Based organizations and groups on over 280 service projects meeting community needs. The Hope Gospel Mission has been the site of over 30 projects, and 11 different staff members have served as project supervisors both at the Mission and at the Bargain Center.
The Hope Gospel Mission has been exemplary in their treatment of our students. They treat our students as equal partners, allow them to negotiate the learning contract to include the students’ strengths and interest areas, and provide excellent training, orientation, and ongoing supervision.
Hope Gospel Mission gives our students the opportunity to become more aware of the fact that, paradoxically, poverty and homelessness are a very real part of our relatively wealthy society. Even more importantly, Hope Gospel Mission allows our students to share their mission of making a difference in the lives of the poor and homeless, by empowering those who so choose to become productive members of society.
Today we would like to honor Gary Steward, Director of the Hope Gospel Mission and the Hope Gospel Mission & Bargain Center Staff with the Community Partner Excellence in Service-Learning Award.
